Impressionist Artworks by David Concidine

Beautiful Light and Color

In the natural world, there are moments when objects of color are lit by beautiful light. We appreciate flowers; we see the landscape in afternoon light; we like a colorful sunset. Capturing the beauty of the lights outdoor, (the sunlight, the skylight, the reflected lights) is a challenge, and one that conveys beautiful moments. Light can make almost anything look beautiful. The Impressionist painters tried to capture outdoor light.

Going even further, in the search for the energy, moods and beauty of color, such artistic groups as the Fauves and the Post-Impressionists interpreted nature through brighter and more interesting relationships of color. Going beyond the drab grays and browns of the natural world, it is fun to convey a world with beautiful harmonies, tints and vibrations of color. Today, we have tools to draw and paint with a larger array of colors than were available in the early 1900s--with digital color, one has a bigger color wheel available!

One example may be cited as for the power of color. Why is it, one may ask, that people go to Disneyland over and over, even they have seen the same things there before? One reason is, is because Disneyland is a beautiful place. Full of beautiful colors, buildings and designs, for the beautiful stories from their films, etc. Disneyland is what people would like the world to be: beautiful, entertaining and enjoyable. One of the things that makes Disneyland beautiful are the colors.

Why do people like to go to a well kept park? One reason is, it has beautiful colors. It is a pleasant place to explore.

David Concidine is an artist who seeks to capture beauty, light and color. "What would the world be like if it had more beautiful colors?" David asks. Here are posted some of his many colorful artworks. (All images are copyrighted. All Rights Reserved.)
